CNC Interview: China's Two Sessions March 2019

China's national legislature and the country's national political advisory body will start their annual sessions next month.

Correspondent from China Xinhua News Network Corporation (CNC) sat down with an Indonesian expert on China to discuss the global significance of China's upcoming two Sessions.

During the interview, Christine Susanna Tjhin said decisions which will be made at this year's two sessions will have a global impact.

Christine Susanna Tjhin , Indonesian Expert in the interview said, "It is actually going to be very important because it is happening during a very momentous time in the global situation especially now the global attention is being directed to the US-China trade war. There are a lot of economic issues the two sessions have to address not just because it is affecting China domestic economies but it affects other countries in the global community."

A draft Foreign Investment Law will be submitted to China's national legislature. Tjhin said the draft shows the country's intention to liberalize its economy further.

"Having this foreign investment draft law is very important in a sense that all this time there have been major concern over China’s commitment to liberalize their economy, especially in terms of allowing foreign investment to thrive together with local investors etc. At the moment the draft law has the potential to increase the process of liberalization in investment in China."

Tjhin said China is aware that green development is crucial for the country and has endorsed sustainable economic development principles for local and overseas investment.

"The government has been very well aware of that. That is why they do pushing a lot of initiatives including for example putting in green belt and road initiative paradigm in the process."
